The monocoque frame represents an exciting change for Birdy. We have deliberately not changed all our models over to this new frame design for the simple reason that it would add about $200 to the price of the bike. The monocoque construction technique is more expensive and there is a higher grade Aluminium used in the process.
For 2006, we will leave our Birdy Orange, Blue and Silver bikes basically the same as they always have been (there are a few small changes). However we will introduce two new models with the monocoque frame. These are "Birdy Silver Monocoque" and the new "Birdy Anthracite". Birdy Anthracite is a deluxe light-weight 9 speed bike in a new matt paint finish. It features high-end components (Shimano Deore XT, Sugino cranks, Shimano 105).
So for 2006, there will be 6 models of Birdy available:
