There are 4 basic steps to folding your Birdy: (1) folding the front wheel; (2) folding the rear swing arm; (3) lowering the seatpost and (4) lowering the folding stem.

In this Folding Guide we split it into 12 smaller steps just so you can pick up the detail.

With a bit of practice you will soon be able to fold your Birdy in less than 15 seconds. Let’s begin...

Stand on the left hand side of the bike, change into the highest gear (smallest sprocket) and push the left pedal down to its lowest position.

Place your left hand on the right handlebar and lift the bike off the ground by pulling the handlebar towards your left armpit. This should allow you to reach comfortably the front suspension quick release with your right hand.

Push the release knob down to disengage the spring, at which point the front wheel can start to move down. With your right hand push the wheel down to its lowest position and grasp the wheel as shown in the photo.

With a swift motion pull the wheel up so that it clips into place against the fixing screw. Now place the front wheel on the ground.

Now let’s fold the rear wheel...
With your left hand still on the handlebar, use your right hand to pull the rear swingarm catch gently towards you. At the same time lean on the handlebar until the screw moves 1-2 cm away from the catch.

With your left hand still on the handlebar, grip the saddle with your right hand and use both hands to lift the bike until the rear wheel starts to swing under the bike.

While you are lifting the bike turn the handlebar a few cm anticlockwise to make room for the rear wheel to fold under the main tube. Now lower the bike until the rear wheel is completely folded (see also next photo).

Tip: You’ll get the smoothest folding action if the rear wheel rolls along the ground throughout the movement.
Now turn the handlebar clockwise so that the front wheel rests gently against the rear wheel.

Open the hinge lever on the steering tube and fold the tube down.

Open the quick release for the seat-post and push the seat-post down. Close the quick release. (It is important that you push the seatpost down as far as it will go as it helps your Birdy to sit up straight when folded).

You made it, congratulations!
