It's easy to fold
With only three main folding joints all operated by hand (no tools needed) folding your bike couldn’t be easier. With a bit of practice it will take you less than 15 seconds to fold your Birdy including all carriers. Being able to fold your bike that fast and easily offers a lot of advantages.
It's small
The Birdy folds down really small, it can easily fit in the boot of most cars, under a desk, behind a couch or in an elevator. Always by your side, exposure to thieves or the weather can be minimal.
It's comfy
Despite the fact that it looks different, the geometry of the Birdy is designed like a large wheeled bike. This means when you jump on a Birdy, the riding position will feel similar to a large wheeled bike. The Birdy also has a wide range of possible adjustments to easily fit different riders and riding styles. (It can be fitted to riders of up to 1.95m).
The front and rear suspension on the Birdy give you a very comfortable ride. Suspension on small-wheeled bikes is not just a luxury, it is actually really important. This is because smaller wheels do not offer the same natural suspension effect that bigger wheels do. Because the suspension mechanism is ingeniously integrated into the folding mechanism, a low maintenance, simple and light suspension system can be employed.
It's an ideal travel companion
The Birdy makes an ideal travel companion and is fantastic for taking overseas. It is easy to pack a Birdy in a bike bag and take it on an airplane. At your travel destination you can enjoy taking the Birdy on trains and buses (even where bikes are not normally allowed) and you can also take the Birdy into your hotel room (or even your tent) to keep it safe from thieves and rain.

It's fast
The Birdy is as fast as many large wheeled bikes. You will be amazed how easy it is to keep up with your cycling mates.
The 18” wheels do not mean you have to pedal more, since the oversized chainring (56 teeth) compensates for the smaller wheels. This means that one turn of the pedals will take you the same distance as a normal bike would. In addition, high-pressure tires (90 PSI) or racing tyres (120 PSI), a wide gear range and a light-weight frame also help to give you effortless speed.
Small wheels in fact have advantages. The small inertia of small wheels results in easy acceleration and lets the bike glide up hills.
It's strong
The Birdy has a strong, joint-less main frame, since the folding joints are incorporated into the suspension mechanism. The frame is made of a high-grade aluminum alloy (7005), which makes the bike light yet strong, rigid and rust resistant. All frames are hand welded with lots of precision and care. We are proud about the strength of the Birdy and offer a lifetime warranty (25years) on the mainframe and rear swingarm.
Riders of up to 110kg (including luggage) can use the Birdy.
It's eye-catching
Despite its amazing functionality and features, the German designers have also achieved a clean and eye-catching design. One thing for sure, it will attract a lot of attention on a Birdy. Be aware, it might take you longer to cycle to your destination because people will always stop and ask you about it.
It's light
Weighing in at only 10.5-12kg the Birdy is one of the lightest full suspended bikes on the market. Being so light, it is easy to lift the Birdy (eg in the boot of a car) or to carry it on trains and buses or up staircases etc.
