There are 4 basic steps to unfolding your Birdy: (1) raising the seatpost; (2) raising the folding stem; (3) unfolding the rear swing arm (4) unfolding the front wheel.

In this Unfolding Guide we split it into 12 smaller steps just so you can pick up the detail.

Unfolding your Birdy takes just a few steps. Please follow this guide to learn how...

Stand on the left hand side of your Birdy. Fold the steering tube upwards and close the hinge lever.

Open the seatpost quick release, pull out the seatpost and close the quick release.

Tip: You can fine tune the position of the seatpost later.

Turn the handlebar anticlockwise a few centimeters so that the (still folded) front wheel moves slightly away from the frame.

With your right hand on the saddle and your left hand on the handlebar gently lift the bike and the rear wheel will start to swing backwards.

Keep lifting the bike until the rear wheel has dropped to it’s lowest position and then lower the bike again until the rear wheel is completely unfolded.

The black rear swing arm catch should clip into place. Secure manually if required.
Tip: You will get the smoothest folding action if you roll the rear wheel along the ground throughout the movement.

With your left hand on the right handlebar pull the handlebar towards your left armpit. (The back wheel should stay on the ground).

With your right hand push the front wheel down. Tip: Hold the handlebar high enough so that the front swingarm does not drop into the ground and get scratched.

Keep rotating the swingarm around until the suspension spring on the front swingarm clips into place. Secure manually if required.

Well done! Now have a fun and safe ride on your Birdy but before you race off, please take note of the following:

Warning: Please check that all folding joints are securely closed and also perform all safety checks listed in your Owners Manual under section: ‘Before every ride’!
